The Bike Fit Tour 2009

SlowTwitch Fit Camp - January 14, 2009 & March 11, 2009, "Xantusia", Valyermo, CA - USA
Here is your chance to catch these two industry icons in one place, at one time. Complete your Tri Bike Fitting with the Foot/Pedal interface at your next F.I.S.T. training in Valyermo, CA.
Remember this is the most important connection to the bike. In an Ironman you will complete 28,000 or more pedal strokes, and that's just for one leg. Get this aspect wrong for your client and you are wrong 56,000 times for just one race.
Aerodynamics means nothing if you cannot pedal and produce power. Get connected at the foundation - THE FOOT/PEDAL INTERFACE, then get aero and kick some you-know-what.
Past Stages:

Therapeutic Associates Summer Cycling Camp - July 18-20, 2008, Bend, OR - USA
Kit will be working with one of our favorites, Dr Max Testa, in Bend, OR. Therapeutic Associates is hosting this annual cycling camp and invited Kit to join them for 2008. Max has been using our products for years and it is always a pleasure to see him in action. Visit the Therapeutic Associates Website for more information on the camp, and for space availability.

Trek Bicycles of Pittsburgh - July 1-3, 2008, Robinson Township, PA - USA
July kicks off with Paul heading to Robinson Township (just outside of Pittsburg), Pennsylvania, to work with National Velo (Trek of Pittsburgh). Look for a public presentation by Paul on the night of July 2.

Diaz Health Performance - June 15 & 16, 2008, Camarillo, CA - USA
The Bike Fit Tour makes a stop in Camarillo, California, at Diaz Human Performance. This will be a two-day intensive training.

Bike Masters of Omaha - June 23-25, Omaha, NE - USA
Bike Fit makes it first trip to the state of Nebraska. Paul will be spending 3 days with the crew from Bike Masters of Omaha.

St Mary's Duluth Clinic - April 24, 2008, Duluth, MN - USA
Kit Vogel will be teaching biomechanical assessment and bike fitting skills to physical therapists at St. Mary's Duluth Clinic, in Duluth, Minnesota, USA. The team of physical therapists will be joined by local bike shop owners to create a multi-disciplinary approach. Teamwork between bike shops and the PTs/medical clinicians is an essential part of the bike fitting process and creates a strong network of referrals and resources for the client/patient. (8 physical therapy con-ed hours)
The Bike Fit Tour 2008 continues...
Heading to Valyermo? You know, for a F.I.S.T. workshop...
SlowTwitch Fit Camp - March 12, 2008, "Xantusia", Valyermo, CA - USA
Swifty will be hanging out at the SlowTwitch facilities, sharing his magic with Tri Bike Fitters. To put it simply, he will cover what is not covered in the previous two days at a F.I.S.T. workshop
You will learn about the important foot/pedal interface connection to the bike. This aspect completes a great bike fit... and makes it spectacular. Regardless of how good your upper body is fit, you will pedal OVER 25,000 times in an Iron Man. Get this wrong, and your upper body doesn't mean a thing. You can move your hands on the handlebars, move on your seat but your feet are stuck in one spot. Get it wrong and you get it wrong 25,000 times PER FOOT! Yes 50,000 times your legs will go up and down, one after the other.
Sound important? IT IS the most important part of any bike fit. Nail the feet, and you are a genius. Don't, and you are at best a regular bike fitter, and your cyclists will curse you. What are you waiting for? Go sign up now.
See photos below from Bike Fit's last visit to desolate Valyermo where there isn't even a gas station or convenient store in sight, but you are well fed at Mark's house next door. So, call Mark for a cool place to stay and good grub.

The three amigos: Dan Empfield, Paul Swift & John Cobb

You will get your hands on some cleats just like this... and yes, even the ladies get into the action.

The man, working his magic at the front.

Frostbike 2008 - February 16 & 17, 2008, Bloomington, MN - USA
Paul Swift and Katrina Vogel will be presenting at Frostbike 08

- Kit - "The Foot-Pedal Connection" will cover the four primary changes for the cleat (canting, medial-lateral, rotation, fore-aft) as well as the role of over-the-counter shoe inserts versus custom orthotics.

Bike Fit Systems to present at GHC's Fall Physical and Occupational Therapy service line retreat
Group Health Cooperative is bringing in a variety of speakers for this event and one of them will be BikeFit's Director of Education Katrina Vogel, MS DPT, or simply Kit, as she prefers to be called.
The presence of Group Health in the Seattle area and its support for the cycling community is truly amazing. Just to mention a couple of examples are the STP Ride and the Marymoor Velodrome for group classes and races.
BikeFit is excited to be sharing our knowledge with a group that is so supportive of cycling and look forward to working with them more in the future. Group Health is certainly one place to think of when you ride a bike in the North West. For more information about GHC, visit the Group Health website.

Tri Fit Trifecta - November 5-8, 2007, "Xantusia", Valyermo, CA - USA
Don't miss Dan Empfield, John Cobb and Paul Swift. ...No, it's not a new version of the "3 Stooges", but this opportunity is likely to be fun and educational for all who attend.
What do these three people have in common? Each has designed ground-breaking products and created ideas used by many of the best cyclists in the world. These products and ideas will simply help you ride faster and do so with more comfort. Their continued influence has an impact for all of us who ride bikes.
As is par for the course for these individuals, they are offering another "first" in the industry. You can be a part of this "first" also by signing up to attend this Tri Fit Trifecta.

Bike Fit Tour with Paul Swift - Alabama & Georgia - October 2007
Our schedule is bringing Paul to Auburn, AL, Oct 18 - 20th, for the Chris Hinds Memorial Bike Ride.
Chris, who co-owned Southside Bicycles, introduced Paul to Auburn. While attending Auburn University, Paul conducted one of his first Bike Fit studies on the foot/pedal interface. In addition to the memorial bike ride, Paul will be providing several Bike Fits for the current Auburn Flyers Cycling Team, which was started by Chris, and of which Paul was a member in the 1990s.

You can book your preferred customers or shop employees/coaches for this opportunity to meet and work directly with Paul Swift, one of the fastest American cyclists to ever ride a bicycle. Hear & see how Paul came up with "the original" Bicycle Fitting System, which is the first fitting system to look at the critical front view. and so much more. Paul Swift and Bike Fit Systems to provide Bike Fitting Services to the Rock Racing Pro Cycling Team
During the week of April 10-14, 2007, Paul will be in Marina Del Rey, CA, working with The Rock Racing Pro Cycling Team (sponsored by Rock & Republic, Cadillac, Scott Bicycles, Shimano) and their bike fit. Paul has worked with a couple of the members in the past, in particular Haldane Morris, who led the team to contact Bike Fit Systems. Haldane says, "I don't let anyone else touch my shoes."
Paul will see how he can add more speed--as well as comfort--to this newly formed team making a name for itself and its riders on the National Racing Calendar (NRC) of USA Cycling.

With the 2007 Group Health Seattle International Bicycle Expo (March 10 & 11) behind us, Bike Fit Systems wants to take a moment to thank those - including long-time friend, Frankie Andreu - who stopped by our booth for making the show such a huge success. Following is a quick recap of the weekend - our first Trade Show event for Bike Fit Systems & 2007.
By the numbers:
- Total participants: 8,541 people
- Total exhibitors: 151 (a new Expo record!)
- 32% of the exhibitors represented non-profit organizations
- 16% of the exhibitors were new this year
Despite the rain and drips, the Bike Fit Systems team was very pleased with attendance, sales figures, and the overall show. The new Adrenaline Alley, featuring Ryan Leech and the New Belgium beer garden seemed to be quite popular among attendees.

Bike Fit Systems attended Frostbike on February 17 & 18, 2007, in freezing cold Minnesota. This year's event had the best attendance for Quality Bicycle Products' Frostbike to date.
Of Paul Swift's lecture, 'Bike Fit on a Budget', QBP's Chad Fortune said, "This was the best attended lecture of the weekend." Look for Paul again next year at this event.
Dealers who attended, please don't forget to go the Frostbike website and give your feedback on the event!
On January 21-24, Bike Fit Systems attended the SICI Bike Fit Symposium in Boulder CO, and our own Dr Katrina Vogel was a featured presenter. Kit's topic covered the important Foot - Pedal interface. Her session was packed and the attendees did not want her to leave the stage. She was constantly being approached by attendees for the remainder of the events.
